Before it was used as a culinary herb, it was used in medicine, usually to treat indigestion. Savoury is a rarely used herb and a combination of thyme, rosemary and sage. Its smooth, greyish-green, narrow leaves have a fragrance reminiscent of oregano and thyme, and a warming flavour similar to that of thyme and marjoram. As in the case of majority of plants in this family, leaves of this herb are rich in strong fragrant oils, which give off an intense pine aroma.
